Opened in 1990, Aotea Centre was designed around specially commissioned works by some of New Zealand’s most famous contemporary artists. This emphasis on design, together with large expanses of space bathed in natural daylight, make it the ideal location for both business and pleasure.

The building boasts the latest cutting edge technology throughout. All spaces have both wired and wireless connections and rooms can be easily data-linked making the venue ideal for large conventions requiring multiple rooms.

The Aotea Centre houses New Zealand’s largest modern tiered auditorium, seating more than 2,000 people over three levels.

An exciting, phased development is underway to refurbish the Centre with a fresh, sophisticated edge. The building has transformed to enable innovative performing arts activities and attract more world-class creative talent and events. Work on the exterior and interior of the building has commenced. The latest refurbishments modernise the exterior and upgrade the interior. The open design, expansive foyers and function spaces will be more appealing. You will see a sophisticated new wall, floor and lighting treatments and a brand-new glass Box Office at the entrance.

As custodians of New Zealand’s largest portfolio of iconic venues, Auckland Conventions Venues & Events offers a range of unique world-class venues for extraordinary events in Auckland, including Aotea Centre, Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Town Hall, Auckland Zoo, Bruce Mason Centre, Mt Smart Stadium, North Harbour Stadium, Shed 10, The Civic, The Cloud.
